PolyU Fashion Show 2026 Highlights Emerging Designers

Annual showcase features 21 graduating designers, 78 outfits and experimental techniques before a global audience

The School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) organised the PolyU Fashion Show 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 3 July. The annual event featured collections by 21 graduating students, who presented their work while competing for five awards and scholarships supported by the School’s industry partners.

The event attracted nearly 1,200 industry professionals, designers and fashion enthusiasts in person, while close to 13,000 viewers from around the world joined through a livestream.

21 Fashion Collections Presented Across Multiple Categories

The runway showcased 21 fashion collections comprising 78 outfits, created by graduating students from PolyU’s BA (Hons) Scheme in Fashion and Textiles. The collections covered categories including casual wear, evening wear, intimate apparel and activewear.

Students explored themes such as social ideologies, identity and multiculturalism through their designs. Their work incorporated experimental techniques including:

• 3D printing
• Vacuum-formed resin moulding
• Fermentation processes
• Crystallisation techniques
• Bioplastics
• Kombucha scoby and other organic materials

The collections combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design approaches and emerging technologies.

Dean Highlights Innovation and Craftsmanship

Prof. Erin CHO, Dean of PolyU SFT, said:

This year’s Show fully reflects our students’ passion for fashion design, their resilience and their commitment to professionalism and excellence. Every collection embodies its creator’s distinctive style and aesthetic vision. While honouring the legacy of craftsmanship, they have also boldly embraced innovation and pushed beyond traditional boundaries. I am confident that these emerging designers will continue to shine on both the local and international stage, contributing to the development of the fashion industry.”

Industry Partners Support Awards and Scholarships

Five awards and scholarships were presented during the event to recognise outstanding graduating students.

The Consinee Grand Award, sponsored by Consinee Group, was judged by:

• Ms Constance LEE, Founder of CONSTYLE and Fashion Stylist
• Ms Florence TSUI, Brand Manager of ONS Clothing – New York
• Mr Kit WAN, Founder and Creative Director of Kit Wan Studios
• Mr Wilson YIP, Founder of Wilsonkaki

The HKIAIA Overall Grand Award was judged by Ms Karen NG, Secretary of the Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries’ Association (HKIAIA).

Judging panels for the remaining awards and scholarships also included:

• Prof. Alice CHU, Hon. Education Advisor, SFAA Foundation Limited

Consinee Grand Award Winner

The Consinee Grand Award was presented to CHENG Sze-ki, Bella, from the Fashion Design specialism, for her collection "BETWIXT AND BETWEEN."

Inspired by Zygmunt Bauman’s Liquid Modernity and Arnold van Gennep’s Rites of Passage, the collection examines liminality as an enduring state of identity rather than a temporary transition.

The collection combines:

• Black, white and grey colour palettes
• Iridescent liquid-inspired finishes
• Deconstructed tailoring
• Inverted jacket structures
• Layered sheer fabrics
• Traditional bespoke wool tailoring
• Transparent SLA 3D-printed resin
• Laser-engraved organza

HKIAIA Overall Grand Award Winner

The HKIAIA Overall Grand Award was awarded to CHENG Sin-kei, Fion, from the Intimate Apparel and Activewear specialism, for the collection "Unraveled soul."

The collection explores the concept of the human soul through fluid forms, soft colour palettes, translucent fabrics and irregular silhouettes, reflecting themes of individuality, transformation and authenticity.
