Plumbex India 2025 Launches Strategic Initiatives to Tackle Urban Water Crisis

Plumbex India 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marked a milestone in India’s ongoing journey toward sustainable urban water management. With critical new initiatives, including a future-focused whitepaper and strategic MoU, the event reinforced its role as a central hub for water-related innovation and collaboration.

As India contends with mounting water stress impacting nearly 40% of its citizens, the event showcased bold and scalable solutions designed for the built environment. Organized by the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA), Plumbex India 2025 was supported by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the AMRUT 2.0 Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, underscoring its national importance.

Leadership and Call to Action IPA National President Shri Gurmit Singh Arora stressed the urgency of proactive measures, stating that water audits and reuse systems are now essential rather than optional. He emphasized that the event's announcements—such as the newly signed strategic MoU and IPA-JLL whitepaper—are vital tools to bridge the gap between water demand and supply and to create climate-resilient urban spaces.

IPA-JLL Whitepaper on “Best Practices in Water Management” Developed jointly by the IPA and JLL, the whitepaper presents real-world case studies and practical solutions from India's commercial and residential buildings. It details how AI-driven optimization, smart water grids, and greywater reuse have led to:
    The report aligns with international certification standards like LEED and GRIHA and provides a framework for regulatory compliance in India.
    • Up to 40% efficiency gains
    • 20–30% cost savings
    • Improved environmental performance
  2. Strategic MoU Between IPA and CEEW (Council on Energy, Environment and Water) This newly signed memorandum sets the stage for broad collaboration on urban water resilience, targeting:
    • Implementation of treated wastewater reuse programs
    • Reducing non-revenue water losses
    • Conducting comprehensive water audits for municipalities and industrial entities
    • Formulating progressive policies to support circular water economies

Symposium on Urban Water Scarcity A high-level panel discussion titled “The Role of Water Audits and Reuse in Addressing Urban Water Scarcity” brought together senior policymakers and water experts, including:
