SMART AUTOMATION TO ADDRESS SKILLED STAFF SHORTAGES
Advanced technology ensures quality and efficiency in textile finishing – ITMA Asia 2025, Singapore
As customer expectations rise and skilled labor shortages intensify, smart sensor technology and automated control systems are becoming indispensable in textile finishing. PLEVA addresses these challenges with its reliable, robust sensors, designed specifically for the rigorous conditions of textile production.
When combined with the PLEVATEC smart process control system and the SL smart automatic weft-straightener, PLEVA’s solutions enable manufacturers to achieve efficient, high-quality production with far less operator input.

“Customer demands grow while skilled staff declines — online sensors and control systems are key to efficiency and quality assurance.
Our PLEVATEC smart system is designed to meet these needs, optimizing stenters and drying processes with sensor modules. It helps customers operate faster, conserve resources, and improve product quality and reproducibility. Likewise, our SL smart weft-straightener is easy to use and maintain while ensuring precise results.”

The modular PLEVATEC smart system integrates multiple sensor modules, including fabric/air temperature (TDS), residual moisture (RR), exhaust humidity (FS), and pick/course density (CAM), into one intelligent platform with recipe management and data history. This provides stable processes, transparent heat treatment and drying, better quality, improved energy efficiency, and higher productivity.
Meanwhile, the SL smart weft-straightener delivers exceptional accuracy across diverse fabrics. Its traversing camera system, intuitive interface, and recipe management make operation straightforward and maintenance minimal.
One notable success story is Harris Tweed Hebrides in Scotland, a renowned producer of handwoven wool tweed. They replaced their pinwheel straightening system with PLEVA’s SL smart.
“The traversing camera is extremely accurate and adapts automatically to the fabric. Straightening is precise and non-damaging, with minimal operator involvement. We’ve seen clear gains in productivity – and received excellent support from PLEVA.”
