PIPAL Debuts at Berlin Fashion Week with Slow Fashion Collection Inspired by Identity and Craft

Agra-born designer Ronika Pipal launches her label with ‘INHERITED: Survival & Existence’, showcasing handcrafted garments made from deadstock fabrics and natural dyes.

Held at the historic Das Werkhaus, Heckmann Höffe, the launch event attracted more than 200 guests during Berlin Fashion Week SS27. The programme featured the first public screening of the brand's debut campaign, alongside a private viewing and sale of its inaugural collection.

The pop-up was supported by BELMILAN Wine as the official alcohol sponsor.

Slow Fashion Built Around Circular Design

Established in September 2025, PIPAL follows a slow fashion model centred on sustainability and craftsmanship.

The Berlin-based label creates garments using:

  • Deadstock fabrics
  • Scavenged textile materials
  • Natural dyeing techniques
  • Handcrafted production methods

The brand produces only one collection each year, with additional garments created from leftover fabric offcuts, reflecting its approach to reducing textile waste and avoiding seasonal overproduction.

Installation Inspired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Visitors entering the pop-up encountered a saffron-dyed scarf hand-inscribed with the words:

"Educate. Agitate. Organise."

The installation referenced the words of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and was positioned to face both the sun and arriving visitors. According to the designer, the installation highlighted the role of social and political commentary within her creative practice.

Collection Explores Identity and Memory

Designer Ronika Pipal described the debut collection as an exploration of personal identity, cultural heritage and craftsmanship.

She said the garments reflect the materials, techniques and memories that have shaped both her design practice and personal journey, connecting her upbringing in Agra with her life and work in Berlin.

According to the designer, the brand views clothing as a medium for expression rather than simply a commercial product.

International Expansion Planned

Selected products from the debut collection are currently available through the brand's website.

PIPAL also plans to expand internationally through partnerships with stockists across global markets while continuing its focus on circular fashion, handcrafted production and limited annual collections.
