Outlast Technologies GmbH has developed Bailey, an engineered fabric for pillows and comforters/duvets featuring high heat absorption and cooling performance. The material combines the company’s temperature regulation technology with a Lyocell-based construction.

Outlast Technologies GmbH has announced the development of Bailey, an engineered bedding fabric intended for use in pillows and comforters/duvets. The company reports that the material offers high heat absorption capacity together with a naturally cooling surface.

The Bailey fabric integrates Outlast’s temperature regulation technology into a Lyocell base material. According to the company, excess body heat is absorbed immediately upon contact, resulting in “a distinctly cool sensation.” The cooling effect is described as beneficial in warm summer conditions and for sleepers prone to perspiration during the night.

Bailey provides a heat storage capacity of 7,500 J/m².

“This means the material not only cools on first contact but actively works throughout the entire night,” the company explained. “Excess heat is absorbed, stored, and released again when needed. Temperature peaks are effectively buffered, sweating is significantly reduced, and a balanced, comfortable sleep climate is supported.”

In terms of material composition, the Lyocell fiber used in Bailey is largely sourced from renewable raw materials and requires significantly less water during production compared to cotton. The temperature-regulating capsules embedded in the textile contain wax derived from renewable sources, offering a bio-based alternative to fossil-based inputs.

Outlast states that the fabric has a light, clean aesthetic with a fine and uniform structure.

Bailey is produced in Europe and meets established international standards, including Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 and Oeko-Tex Made in Green certifications.
