New Pune Plant Expands Capacity and Strengthens ‘Make in India’ Vision
Otter Controls India inaugurates a USD 4.5 million manufacturing facility in Pune, boosting capacity by 75% and creating 1,000 new jobs with advanced EMS and LSR technologies.
Otter Controls India, a joint venture with the UK-based Otter Controls Limited, inaugurated its advanced fourth manufacturing facility in the Chakan-Pune industrial region. Representing a strategic investment of USD 4.5 million, the new facility was officially inaugurated by Mr. Avnish Malhotra, India Lead – Future Mobility Department for Business & Trade and Head of the British Trade Office in Pune.
Distinguished attendees included Mr. Ulhas Joshi, Managing Director, Otter Controls India; Mr. Avnish Malhotra (Head – DBT, UKTI); Mr. Gaurav Jain, COO; Mr. Alex Nijhoff, Managing Director, Otter Group; and Dr. David Smith, Chairman, Otter Group, UK.
The facility marks a major milestone in Otter Controls India’s growth, boosting production capacity by 75% and creating 1,000 new employment opportunities within the Chakan-Pune industrial cluster.
Strategic Investment Aligned with ‘Make in India’
Spanning 96,000 sq. ft., the new plant plays a crucial role in strengthening the local manufacturing ecosystem in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Otter Controls India was earlier recognized with the National Productivity & Innovation Award for its contributions under this program.
“This new manufacturing facility reflects our confidence in the strength and potential of the Indian manufacturing landscape,” said Mr. Ulhas K. Joshi, Managing Director, Otter Controls India Private Limited. “By expanding capacity and creating 1,000 new jobs in Pune, we’re not only scaling operations but also investing in the community and supporting a self-reliant domestic supply chain.”
Advanced Technology and Future Mobility Vision
The cutting-edge 96,000 sq. ft. facility features advanced infrastructure, including a Clean Room Facility ISO 8 / Class 100,000, enabling Otter Controls India to enter the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) sectors across both automotive and non-automotive industries. The new setup also enhances production of high-precision components such as Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molded parts and specialized wire harnesses.

Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce EMS Manufacturing, In-house Commercial Stamping, Railway Switchgears, and Relay Manufacturing for Defence Applications, strengthening its product portfolio and expanding into high-value engineering segments.
