Orion Launches Printex Chroma 450 Beads Carbon Black for Engineered Plastics

The new high-jetness carbon black grade offers a balance of colour intensity and surface smoothness and is produced at Orion’s ISCC PLUS-certified facility in Germany.

Orion S.A., a specialty chemicals company headquartered in Houston, has launched Printex Chroma 450 Beads, a high-jetness carbon black developed for engineered plastics applications. The product has European Union (EU) food-contact approval and is manufactured at the company’s International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS-certified plant in Cologne, Germany.

New Grade Focuses on Jetness and Surface Smoothness

According to Orion, Printex Chroma 450 Beads is designed to combine high jetness with surface smoothness. The material is intended for applications requiring effective dispersion and performance consistency in engineered plastics.

“The product was developed for applications that require excellent dispersion,” says Martin Dauch, director of global marketing for polymers at Orion. “The grade maintains the strong performance profile of Orion’s Printex chroma series, providing customers with greater flexibility when selecting the right solution for demanding plastics applications.”

Addition to the Printex Chroma Series

Printex Chroma 450 Beads joins Printex Chroma 500 in Orion’s product series. Printex Chroma 500 is designed for high-jetness applications, particularly in engineered plastics, and features a strong bluish undertone, according to the company.

The launch expands Orion’s carbon black product range for plastics manufacturers seeking specific colour and surface characteristics in finished applications.
