Ohmium International Appoints Dr. Markus Tacke as New Global CEO

Ohmium International, a prominent manufacturer of advanced PEM hydrogen electrolyzers, has announced the appointment of Dr. Markus Tacke as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Tacke, a seasoned leader with more than two decades of experience at Siemens, is well-known for his success in the renewable energy industry and will lead Ohmium’s next phase of global expansion and commercialization of its innovative green hydrogen technologies.

Dr. Tacke brings with him a rich history of scaling companies in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology. He has consistently delivered growth through a focus on customer-centric strategies, operational efficiency, and strategic acquisitions. As CEO of Oerlikon Surface Solutions AG, he achieved 8% annual growth and transformed the company from break-even to 9% profitability by driving regional integration and venturing into new business areas. During his tenure at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, he streamlined product offerings, introduced new advanced platforms, and launched a €2.5 billion cost savings program, stabilizing the wind energy business and igniting a new growth trajectory.

Arne Ballantine, outgoing CEO and co-founder of Ohmium, has led the company through its early growth phases. Under his leadership, Ohmium established a scalable internal PEM supply chain capable of meeting gigawatt-level demand, and deployed its technology globally across multiple project sites.

Dr. Tacke holds a PhD and a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from Cornell University, USA.
