Odisha Approves 27 Industrial Projects Worth Over ₹2.45 Lakh Crore

Projects across 15 districts cover data centres, energy, steel, semiconductors, textiles and advanced manufacturing, with potential to create over 50,000 jobs
The Odisha government has approved 27 industrial projects involving investments of more than ₹2.45 lakh crore, with the projects expected to have the potential to generate employment for over 50,000 people. The proposals were cleared at a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday.
Projects to span 15 districts
The approved projects will be established across 15 districts of Odisha and cover a wide range of sectors, including data centres and artificial intelligence, power and energy, steel, semiconductors, lab-grown diamonds, green hydrogen, healthcare, chemicals, textiles, shipbuilding and advanced manufacturing.
“The geographical spread, together with the diversity of sectors, reflects the state government’s focus on expanding investment opportunities beyond conventional industrial clusters, and promoting balanced regional industrial development,” Majhi said.
Data centres account for largest investment segment
Four projects in the IT, IT-enabled services (ITES) and data centre segment together account for around ₹1,42,941 crore, making it the largest investment segment among the projects approved by the HLCA.
The proposed projects include an integrated data centre by High Density Data Centre Ltd in Khurda, an AI-optimised data centre by HCL Technologies Ltd in Khurda, a data centre and global capability centre by Sentraforge AI Ltd in Puri, and a data centre by RKD Construction Private Ltd in Cuttack.
An official described the scale of investment proposed in the sector as an “unprecedented” feature of the latest HLCA approvals.
Power and renewable energy projects approved
The government also approved four major projects in the power and renewable energy sector, involving a combined investment of ₹54,287.70 crore.
In the steel and steel downstream segment, two projects are proposed in Sundergarh, with a combined investment of ₹14,000 crore.
Healthcare and other sectors included
The Adani Foundation has proposed a 1,000-bed multi-speciality hospital in Khurda. The project involves an investment of ₹2,150 crore.
The latest approvals also cover projects in semiconductors, lab-grown diamonds, green hydrogen, chemicals, textiles, shipbuilding and advanced manufacturing, adding to the sectoral diversity of the investment proposals cleared by the state government.
