Nuyarn and Unknown Runner Partner to Launch Ultralight Merino Trail Running Apparel

New Courser Collection combines Nuyarn technology with a lightweight merino blend designed for trail running in hot and variable conditions.
Nuyarn Technologies, a developer of high-performance yarn and fabric technologies, has partnered with Unknown Runner, a Flagstaff, Arizona-based company that designs merino performance apparel for trail runners.
The collaboration introduces the Courser Collection, an ultralight performance merino wool apparel system intended for use in hot and variable weather conditions. The collection is built using Nuyarn technology and features a 115 gsm merino blend fabric with an open-knit structure. The fabric consists of 63% merino wool, 29% polyester, and 8% nylon, designed to provide temperature regulation, moisture management, odor resistance and next-to-skin comfort.
According to the companies, Nuyarn's proprietary drafting technology wraps merino wool around a nylon filament to produce a yarn that is lighter in weight, offers improved moisture management and provides enhanced durability. Combined with polyester knitting, the resulting fabric is designed to improve breathability, dry quickly and maintain performance during repeated use in demanding conditions.
Monica Ebert, VP of Sales for Nuyarn, said:
"We are excited to see Unknown Runner utilize Nuyarn to push the boundaries of performance apparel in the trail running space. Our technology is designed to unlock the natural potential of wool, and in a high-intensity sport like trail running, the benefits of 5x faster dry times and 8x more durability are game-changers for the athlete".
Alex Mette, Founder of Unknown Runner, said:
“We’re always searching for the highest-performing merino fabrics, and Nuyarn’s ability to innovate around performance made them the ideal partner for Unknown Runner.”
