Workshop to explore AI-driven fashion forecasting and plans for generative AI outreach

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Varanasi, will host a Trend Forecasting Workshop on September 26, presented by VisioNxt, an AI- and Emotional Intelligence-driven fashion forecasting initiative. The workshop will bring together regional industry leaders from Eastern Uttar Pradesh, NIFT alumni and academic scholars, with Dr Kaustav Sen Gupta, Head of VisioNxt, leading the session.

The workshop will draw on the concepts of Samvada (enlightened dialogue) and Pratibha (intuitive insight) while examining the use of AI and cultural knowledge in fashion trend forecasting.

VisioNxt to Present AI-Based Trend Forecasting Approach

According to the release, VisioNxt combines artificial intelligence with cultural memory and regional craft knowledge to develop geo-specific and culturally nuanced trend insights.

The initiative is positioned in the context of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming “Make in India” into “Make for the World.” The workshop will focus on the application of indigenous design intelligence for weavers, artisans, designers and retailers.

NIFT Varanasi Highlights AI Skills for Fashion Industry

Dr. Sanjay Shrivastava, Director of NIFT Varanasi, said AI-driven trend forecasting supports an ecosystem based on India’s design lexicon.

“This initiative will equip industry professionals with advanced, next-generation skills required to excel and maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving global market," he added.

The workshop is part of VisioNxt’s plans for generative AI outreach and will bring together participants from industry, academia and the NIFT alumni network in Varanasi.
