NIFT to Honour Crafts and Artisans at Craft Bazar

Daman
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will organise a two-day Craft Bazar on 20 and 21 February 2026 at its campus. The initiative is being held for the third consecutive year, after a similar event organised in April last year.
The objective of the Craft Bazar and live craft demonstrations is to provide a meaningful platform for practicing artisans to showcase their products, engage with the NIFT community, and benefit from NIFT’s design and market-led interventions. Through this interface, artisans gain visibility, design feedback, and opportunities to connect with wider urban audiences.
This year, Warli artisans, Mata ni Pachedi practitioners from Ahmedabad, and other crafts of Gujarat will participate in the programme, bringing the region’s rich textile and craft traditions to the campus. Visitors will be able to witness the making processes, interact with artisans, and purchase craft products directly from the makers.
As a mark of recognition and appreciation, participating artisans will be felicitated with shawls and certificates during the valedictory session of the event. The Craft Bazar is open to students, faculty, staff, and guests. NIFT Director Dr. Sanjay Shrivastava reaffirmed the institute’s commitment in safeguarding and advancing India’s rich handloom and handicraft heritage.
