NIFT Mumbai Hosts Adobe NEXT// Campus Day Focused on AI-Powered Creative Learning

389 students participate in immersive sessions on Generative AI, motion design, visual storytelling and emerging creative technologies

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai, hosted Adobe NEXT// Campus Day on 19 August 2026, bringing together 389 students alongside Adobe experts for an immersive learning experience centred on Generative AI, visual storytelling, motion design and emerging creative technologies. The sessions were led by Adobe experts and prominent creative industry professionals.

Established in 1986 and granted statutory status in 2006 through an Act of Parliament, NIFT has contributed to developing professional leadership across the textile, apparel, fashion, retail and allied industries. The institute also serves as a knowledge partner to Central and State Governments.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Khare, Director, NIFT Mumbai, who encouraged students to adopt emerging technologies while ensuring that creativity, critical thinking and design intent remain central to their work.

Ms. Niharika Bhayana Khatrii, Digital Education and Programs Leader, Adobe India, introduced participants to Adobe’s expanding creative ecosystem and discussed the growing influence of AI in modern creative workflows. She emphasized that while AI is changing the creative process, imagination continues to be the most powerful creative tool. Through Adobe NEXT, students are encouraged to combine creativity, technology and AI to bring their ideas and perspectives to life.

The masterclass was conducted by Mr. Jishnu Chatterjee, Creative Director, Motion Designer and Visual Storyteller, and founder of Stray Motion, Mumbai. His portfolio includes title sequences for films and OTT productions such as Scam 1992, The Night Manager, The Railway Men and The Royals. During the session, he highlighted the importance of creativity, persistence and innovation while demonstrating the use of Adobe Firefly and Firefly Boards for motion design and AI-assisted visual storytelling.

A workshop titled “From AI Fear to Fluency: Navigating GenAI as Creative Professionals” was led by Mr. Chetan Shah, Head of Strategic Development, Video and Generative AI, APAC, Adobe. The workshop explored the applications of Generative AI in communication, visual storytelling and motion creation while showcasing video and editorial tools for developing digital content.

Each participant received Adobe 7,000 credits and completed a practical assignment titled “Muse to Runway,” designed to demonstrate how AI can support different stages of visualization. Students from NIFT Mumbai presented their creative outputs during the event’s Showcase segment.

The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Lipi Choudhury, Campus Academic Coordinator, NIFT Mumbai.

An interactive Experience Zone was also organised, where students explored effective prompt writing for creative applications. Through the “Adobe Face Off Challenge,” participants used structured prompt formulas and reference imagery to establish a consistent visual direction and transform concepts into final creative compositions.

Adobe NEXT// Campus Day highlighted industry-academia collaboration in a technology-driven environment by providing students with exposure to emerging creative technologies and current industry practices, supporting their preparation for the evolving fashion and creative sectors.
