NIFT Mumbai Highlights Academic Programmes and Innovation at HGH India 2026

Institute showcases academic offerings, technical textile projects, craft initiatives and student innovations during the four-day home textiles and décor exhibition in Mumbai.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), a premiere fashion institute under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, took part in the 19th Edition of HGH India 2026 to showcase its academic, research and industry engagement initiatives.

HGH India, recognised as India's leading trade exhibition for Home Textiles, Home Décor, Gifts and Houseware, was held from 30th June to 03rd July 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon, Mumbai.

The exhibition recorded participation from 43,920 trade buyers representing 700+ cities & towns across India, along with 32 international players from the home products sector. Participants included home product retailers, modern trade companies, e-commerce and quick commerce brands, OEM buyers, architects, interior designers, distributors and institutional buyers.

Key features of the exhibition included Trend Forecasts, H-Circle Product Innovation Awards, HGH India Interactive, and the Indian Heritage and Sustainability Pavilion. These focus areas aligned with NIFT's initiatives in design education, sustainability and innovation.

During the event, the NIFT Mumbai stall was visited by Smt. Vrunda Manohar Desai, IRS, Textile Commissioner, Government of India, Mumbai, who reviewed the institute's presentation of its academic programmes, research activities, craft interventions and industry collaborations.

At its exhibition space, NIFT Mumbai presented its Regular Academic Programmes, Continuing Education Programmes (CEP), Craft Cluster Initiatives, the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) Project, and a range of student projects. The exhibits highlighted the institute's multidisciplinary approach across design, technology, management, sustainability, innovation and industry engagement.

The stall attracted manufacturers, exporters, retailers, entrepreneurs, designers, industry representatives, prospective students and parents, creating opportunities for interaction with stakeholders from across the sector. According to the institute, the participation established a foundation for future collaboration in education, research, innovation and skill development.

NIFT stated that its participation at HGH India 2026 was aimed at highlighting its academic programmes, research, innovation, industry partnerships and craft-based initiatives across the fields of Design, Technology and Management. The institute also reaffirmed its focus on promoting sustainable design practices, supporting India's craft heritage, encouraging innovation and strengthening industry partnerships to develop a future-ready workforce for the creative industries.
