Daman
In a significant step towards promoting marine conservation and environmental stewardship, students and faculty members of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) participated in a massive beach cleanliness drive at Nani Daman beach on 2nd October. This initiative aligns with the International Coastal Cleanup Day observed on September 20, 2025, where the Indian Coast Guard led nationwide efforts to clean India's coastline. The cleanup drive, organized in collaboration with the Union Territory administration, saw enthusiastic participation from NIFT students and faculty, who worked tirelessly to collect waste and beautify the beach. This event is part of the broader 'Seva Pakhwada' 2025 initiative, which aims to promote service-oriented programs across India from September 17 to October 2. Over 26,000 volunteers participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Day across India, with significant contributions from students, government agencies, and civil organizations. In Gujarat alone, more than 51,500 kg of solid waste was collected and scientifically disposed of during the cleanup drive on September 20. The Indian Coast Guard has been coordinating coastal cleanup activities since 2006, fostering public awareness and environmental stewardship. NIFT students and faculty demonstrated their commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation through their active participation in the cleanup drive.
