NIFT Daman Students Visit Raymond Facility in Vapi for Industrial Textile Exposure

Textile Design students gain practical exposure to yarn preparation, weaving, printing, dyeing, finishing and quality testing

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Daman, organised an industry visit for its 3rd-semester B.Des. Textile Design students to Raymond Ltd.’s facility in Vapi, providing practical exposure to integrated textile manufacturing processes.

Led by Faculty Coordinator Dr. Chetram Meena, the visit involved 26 students who toured the textile manufacturing facility and observed industrial operations spanning yarn preparation, weaving, digital and rotary printing, dyeing, chemical processing and export-grade quality testing.

Students Observe Textile Manufacturing Processes

During the facility tour, students observed rapier and air-jet looms, automated colour kitchens, design repeat settings and finishing processes including mercerization, calendering and stentering.

The visit also included an interaction with Raymond’s plant head and design team, allowing students to relate areas of their academic curriculum, including Woven Structure, Yarn Studies and Textile Processing, to commercial collection development and large-scale manufacturing practices.

Industry Exposure Through Regional Textile Hub

NIFT Daman’s location near textile centres including Vapi, Surat, Ahmedabad and Bhiwandi provides opportunities for students to gain exposure to industrial textile operations.

The industrial visit was coordinated by the Department of Textile Design and mentored and led by Dr. Chetram Meena.
