The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Daman Campus hosted a landmark Regional Industry Meet and Workshop on VisioNxt, bringing together 115 delegates, including industry leaders from Mumbai, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, Silvassa, Surat, NIFT alumni, and members of the academic fraternity. The event featured VisioNxt, a pioneering Indian fashion forecasting initiative that leverages AI and Emotional Intelligence to deliver geo-specific, culturally nuanced trend insights, thereby empowering designers, retailers, artisans, and weavers across the country.

The workshop included an engaging and forward-looking question-and-answer session that received excellent feedback from participants, with industry experts expressing enthusiasm and calling for more such sessions in the future to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving fashion landscape. Anchoring the discourse in the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision, the meet underscored how India is transitioning from merely following western fashion forecasts to confidently shaping global trends rooted in its own culture and craft. In line with the call to transform “Make in India” into “Make for the World”, VisioNxt and NIFT’s AI-driven initiatives position India not just as a consumer of international trend services but as a knowledge leader, telling the world what to wear through indigenous, India-centric forecasting.

Reinforcing this vision, Director General of NIFT, Smt. Tanu Kashyap, IAS, has consistently emphasized that such workshops on AI-powered fashion forecasting build an ecosystem that speaks India’s own design language and enables industry leaders of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat to lead with creativity, cultural intelligence, and technological innovation in the global market. NIFT Director Dr. Brijesh Deore underlined the institute’s commitment to future-ready education by announcing plans to organise an outreach programme focusing on Generative AI to equip industry professionals with advanced skills for a highly competitive global market.

The event was graced by the Director-cum-Joint Secretary (Higher & Technical Education), DNH & DD, whose support continues to strengthen the collaboration between technical education and industry advancement. Dr. Kaustav Sen Gupta, Head of VisioNxt, demonstrated the platform’s unique capabilities and highlighted its role in democratizing access to AI-driven fashion forecasting rooted in India’s diverse socio-economic and cultural contexts. The meet brought together a vibrant mix of industry leaders, academicians, artisans, NIFT faculty, staff, student volunteers, and partners, fostering meaningful exchanges and collaborations to propel innovation and growth in the fashion sector.

NIFT Daman Campus reaffirmed its dedication to bridging industry and academia through such initiatives, driving impactful progress in fashion management and technology. Campus Regional Industry Coordinator, Dr. Vidhu Sekhar P, formally welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Rahul Kushwaha proposed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
