SALTAIRE – A wool quality assurance platform which pays farmers who follow regenerative practices more for their wool has been launched in the UK as plummeting prices have seen fleeces destroyed rather than sent to auction.
The Wool keeper’s platform is being rolled out by wool merchant H Dawson – whose customers include the likes of Finisterre and Hugo Boss – in collaboration with wool buyer Brannach Olann, and some of their key customers, to recognise assurance standards in agriculture and textiles.
Operating as a traceability platform for third party product verification, it aims to raises the profile of British wool through transparency and by rewarding farmers who switch to regenerative agricultural practices.
