According to the Vietnam’s General Statistics Office on Friday, textile and garment exports brought in nearly 7.2 billion US dollars in the first quarter of this year, up 1.1 percent from the same time last year.

Vietnam’s textile and garment exports increased 15.3 percent year on year in March to about 2.7 billion US dollars.

Most of the local garment enterprises have received sustained new orders, including several future ones until August, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association. The recovery of global demand following the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines around the world is expected to bring more positive impacts to the market, said the association.

According to the statistics office, Vietnam’s apparel and garment export turnover was about 29.5 billion US dollars in2020, down 10.2 percent from 2019. China, Japan, the European Union, South Korea, and the United States were its top export market destinations.
