Upland cotton net export sales in the US for the week ended May 23, 2023-24 totalled 222,600 RB, showing a 10% increase from the previous week and a 25% increase from the prior 4-week average. The US Department of Agriculture’s export sales report attributed this rise mainly to increased sales to China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Turkiye, and South Korea. However, there were reductions in exports to Guatemala and Hong Kong during the same period. China accounted for the majority of the export sales with 191,900 RB, followed by Vietnam with 8,500 RB.
For the upcoming season 2024-25, Upland cotton’s net export sales of 78,100 RB were mainly for Turkiye, El Salvador, Thailand, Guatemala, and India. The total exports of 172,200 RB were lower compared to the previous week and the prior 4-week average. China, Turkiye, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Indonesia were the primary destinations for these exports.
Net export sales of Pima cotton for the week ended May 23 totaled 5,400 RB, a 46% decrease from the previous week and a 10% decrease from the prior 4-week average. The majority of the increases were for India, China, Peru, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Additionally, total net sales for 2024-25 were 200 RB for Japan. Exports of Pima cotton were 6,300 RB, with China, Vietnam, Peru, Pakistan, and India being the primary destinations.
