Uniqlo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer. UNIQLO is set to launch RE.UNIQLO, an initiative that collects UNIQLO clothing that is no longer needed by customers, to give the product new life.
The push towards circular fashion is a new step toward benefiting the environment and communities by keeping valuable resources out of landfills, which can be seen at UNIQLO and many other retailers recently, including Adidas and Stella McCartney.
UNIQLO will also invite customers to bring their own used down products into stores to be donated or recycled as part of the initiative, from Thursday 24 September onwards.
In return, customers will be given a coupon that can be spent both in-store and online.
From Monday 9 November 2020, UNIQLO UK will launch Recycled Down Jackets as the first offering from RE.UNIQLO. These items will incorporate rejuvenated down taken from 620,000 jackets gathered from Japan since September last year.
“My personal commitments are aligned with the goals of RE.UNIQLO. The Uniqlo U Recycled Down Jacket represents UNIQLO and my own continued dedication to sustainability”,said Christophe Lemaire, Artistic Director of UNIQLO Paris R&D Centre.
