Trelleborg, a global leader in engineered polymers, has announced that it is building a brand-new, cutting-edge facility in Gateway West Commerce Park, Rutherford County, North Carolina, to house its engineered coated fabric operations. This location, which is a component of the county’s advanced manufacturing vision, will house Trelleborg’s second sizable facility in the region, solidifying its standing as a prominent employer in the community and a leader in the sector.
The new plant has state-of-the-art production capabilities and was built at an initial cost of about $30 million. It will be constructed with LEED certification in mind, guaranteeing emissions-free, carbon-neutral operations. In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, Trelleborg wants to increase the amount of bio-based polymers and recycled raw materials it uses. This will help clients reach product circularity requirements.
Trelleborg Engineered Coated Fabrics president Steve Brockman underlined the need to focus on capacity and sustainability simultaneously, emphasizing the benefits to clients and the community. Bryan King, the chairman of the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners, and Dr. Margaret Annunziata, the president of Isothermal Community College, commended Trelleborg for its continuous support of the community. It is anticipated that the new facility will boost partnerships with regional stakeholders and increase career options, promoting economic growth.
