JUST5 is the latest ‘viroblocked’ jacket launched in collaboration between 5 leading material manufacturers namely 2A-Nyguard, Coats, HeiQ, Vagotex and Sitip.

Designed to protect the wearer against the coronavirus, the development aims to offer a solution to resume normal life as one is heading towards ‘new normal’.

The multifunctional and fashionable jacket is manufactured using the HeiQ Viroblock technology that provides the textile with antiviral and antibacterial properties.

“The treatment does not protect the wearer or others against food-borne (or disease-causing) bacteria. But the jacket sets up a highly effective barrier to shield the wearer from spoiling contaminants in the surrounding area,” said the Swiss innovator.

The 5 innovative components are the self-sanitising Nyshield zippers by 2A-Nyguard, a pioneer zipper manufacturer that can restore the usability in 5 minutes after every touch. Then there’s Coats ProtectV sewing threads from Coats with added anti-microbial and anti-viral properties in every stitch.

The third one is HeiQ Viroblock, Swiss antimicrobial fabric technology that was originally developed to treat face masks registered by Swiss Medic as a medical device. Windtex Vagotex fabric is a breathable, water-repellent and wind-resistant fabric by Windtex Vagotex S.p.A, a leader in lamination and processing of technical fabrics for sports and footwear. Finally, there’s SITIP warp-knitted elastic fabric for the extendable cuffs of JUST5 to shield the hands when touching potentially contaminated surfaces.

“Together we have demonstrated the power of industry collaboration.  By pooling our expertise, we have developed a solution to the challenge of people wanting to restore normality to their everyday lives but also be protected,” said Ronan Cox, President, Performance Materials.
