Maharashtra has the most polluted rivers in the country. The Centre for Responsible Business and The ReFashion Hub have developed a series of policy proposals to encourage wastewater reuse and water stewardship in order to solve the state’s water pollution and shortages.
A national campaign to increase awareness about wastewater reuse in the textile sector has been started in conjunction with the Alliance for Water Stewardship and YWater.
CRB organised many virtual stakeholder engagements and seminars in Maharashtra with the help of The Refashion Hub to raise awareness about water reuse and wastewater treatment. Several parties agreed that addressing water shortages and pollution required a regional strategy.
Data gathering via research on water sources, water availability, and water quality in relation to the region’s water tables (underground and surface level) would aid in the development of water indicators.
