The overall rating to Kings of Indigo is 4/5 by good on you

Published: August 3, 2020

The Amsterdam-based denim brand Kings of Indigo was recently given four out of five overall ratings by Good On You which is a consumer-facing platform that estimates different brands on their impact on people, planet, and animals. The kings of indigo were rewarded with a high rating, though there were two areas where they showed that the brand could improve those were people and animals.

This “Good On You score” feels like a culminating achievement for Kings Of Indigo, which also means that the brand is on the top list in the app but being a truly planet-friendly brand means not just keeping up with every single development in a sustainable fashion to make the product better, but means leading the charge too, says the brand on its website.

The brand has assessed more than 2,000 fashion brands until now. They are even putting steps in place to better address both the problem areas.

By 2021, the company will adjust the wages of the workers to account for the cost of education and savings. They have also declared in its 2020 sustainability report that they would continue research on living wages and request detailed open costing from suppliers, and participate in the Fair Wear living wage incubator 2.0 in order to reach those goals that they have set.

As for the animal category, Kings of Indigo uses sheep’s wool in some of their collections, and despite that the brand is 100 percent recycled, it is still unable to be classified as a vegan company as a result.
