With the successful conclusion of the second straight edition of Brands of India, which included more than 150 Indian apparel brands and white label manufacturers, the apparel Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) once again established a new standard in the global sourcing industry. A wide range of the newest styles in men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing were on display at the trade expo.
The recently finished event gathered an extraordinary gathering of over 2000 guests from 60 countries, highlighting India’s strong global appeal as a leading exporter of quality clothes. Retailers, wholesalers, and importers from a variety of markets, including the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Singapore, South Africa, and many more, made up the purchasers.
Total Indian garment exports are predicted to reach US$ 17 billion in 2024, a 5-7 percentage rise over 2023, despite the disruptive climate that is now prevailing in global apparel manufacturing hubs like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and China, where exports continue to remain lukewarm. The show offered a perfect chance for a possible increase in India’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports to the United Arab Emirates, which are anticipated to receive more momentum in recent years under CEPA.
Santosh Katariya, President of CMAI, said at the end of the show, “The second edition of Brands of India has been a phenomenal success, exceeding expectations.” We are immensely appreciative of all the buyers, retailers, and participants that helped make it a huge success. The outstanding quality, wide variety, and affordable prices of Indian clothing are demonstrated by the order bookings and lead generation at the event.
Due to its low labor costs, flexible production capabilities, high-quality products, competitive pricing, prompt delivery, effective logistics systems, and proficiency in white label contract manufacturing, India is widely acknowledged as a top sourcing destination for consumers looking for high-quality apparel. To demonstrate the diversity of Indian industry, top manufacturers from cities including Mumbai, Jaipur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Tirupur, Kolkata, Noida, Ludhiana, New Delhi, Indore, and Solapur had gathered under one roof.
Mujeeb Rehiman, Director – Buying, Lulu Group International, UAE, “India emerges as a better sourcing option for our group in comparison to China where textile, fabric, and manufacturing costs are gradually going up,” stated a major Gulf retailer. We find it very appealing that their factories are using innovative production techniques and becoming environmentally compliant. Rosalin Wambui Wamwiria, a well-known Kenyan retailer, said, “We are glad to be here and find the merchandise we wished to source.” Given the vast range of products that India manufactures, both parties have benefited.
Nirav Sanghvi from ColourHunt, an Ahmedabad based Men’s Casualwear brand, one of the repeat participants, having presence across Gulf region, stated “The show has helped us to expand our presence and introduce new generation fashion on a global level since Dubai is a huge hub for Asia, Europe and African countries. We managed to connect with many retail buyers and good distributors with whom our brand could resonate.
