Tomorrow on the Gold Coast is the start of the Australian Cotton Conference, which is expected to be the largest-ever assembly of growers and industry representatives from one of Australia’s most important agricultural industries.

The biennial event, which takes place from August 6–8, 2024, will bring together approximately 2500 participants from Australia and outside to network, exchange ideas, and come together around the topic of “Cultivating Excellence.”

The industry is still seeing rapid and positive changes as a result of research, innovation, and farming practices. Every two years, the Cotton Conference gives growers a chance to get together and learn from 160 speakers, panelists, and 26 chairs during 29 separate sessions. Furthermore, over 120 exhibitors will be present at Australia’s largest-ever cotton industry trade show.

Topics include soil health, cover crops, renewable energy, carbon farming, climate forecasting, water surveillance, the performance of novel cotton varieties, mental health, and artificial intelligence applications for cotton will all be covered by the wide spectrum of participants.

One of the world’s foremost experts on soil health and sustainability will assess Australian cotton’s sustainability credentials. Global cotton identities will provide an overview of global supply and demand and its effects on Australian cotton and the global fiber trade.

The Conference will take place in Paris during the Summer Olympics, and as a way to give delegates a taste of Olympic action, there will be an Olympic Lounge and a Going for Gold session that focuses on future farming technology.

The Cotton Industry Awards luncheon on Thursday, August 8, will serve as the Conference’s capstone event. It is during this event that the winners of the AgriRisk High Achiever of the Year and Bayer Cotton Grower of the Year will be revealed.

There will also be announcements on the Cotton Seed Distributors Researcher of the Year Award, the Incitec Pivot Fertilizer Services to Industry Award, and the CRDC Chris Lehmann Young Cotton Achiever of the Year Award.
