Sales and service of Mayer & Cie. circular knitting machines have been under new administration in Bangladesh since April 1, 2023. The “Mayer Bangladesh” team has recently been founded. Batliboi, a longtime representative of Mayer & Cie. in India, has joined commercial activities in Bangladesh since the beginning of the month with assistance from the Brady Services and Almani Biz teams. The collaboration between Mayer & Cie. representatives and Batliboi, Brady Services, and Almani Biz. has produced synergies that will enable them to use their capabilities and skills to better serve consumers.
New and well-known Bangladeshi faces
As its representative in Bangladesh, Mayer & Cie. has established a long-standing commercial relationship in Batliboi. Mumbai-based Batliboi has been in charge of Mayer & Cie. circular sales and service for around 40 years. India has knitting machines. The Textile and Machinery Group at Batliboi is headed by Abhay Sidham. With an emphasis on sustainability and the processing of recycled raw materials, Batliboi and his team have years of experience in strategic marketing.
According to Wolfgang Müller, the sales director of Mayer & Cie., “we face strong competition from Asian manufacturers here,” thus these competencies are important in the Bangladesh market. The premium market was contracting, and specialties like value-added fabrics, spacer fabrics, and athleisure with a lot of elastic were becoming popular. Mayer & Cie. sees significant potential for its equipment in these demands, and in Batliboi, a partner with the expertise to make the best use of those machines.
the ideal fusion of tried-and-true methods and new
The structure of Mayer & Cie. representatives has one unaltered component. Brady Services will keep working with Batliboi to offer its strong connections to the neighbourhood market. Brady Services will continue to take care of a large number of current businesses.
Almani Biz, a Dhaka-based employee of Mayer Bangladesh, has joined the team. Almani Biz is an expert in lubricants for circular knitting machines and has extensive connections in the country’s knitting community.
With this new arrangement, Mayer & Cie. feels well positioned. “We,” said Wolfgang Müller, “are of the opinion that the market for textile machinery in Bangladesh will continue to grow, and we are confident that by strengthening our sales, service, and marketing team we will be able to make good use of this opportunity.”
a store a sector with enormous potential
Large orders have already been placed by customers in Bangladesh. The most recent order, placed in January, called for the delivery of several dozen devices this fall. In the second half of 2023, more orders from Apex and BEXIMCO (Bangladesh Export Import Co.) are also expected to be delivered.
Batliboi was Nepal’s representative.
Batliboi has replaced Mayer & Cie. in Nepal, where the business had lacked a local representation, while it reorganises the setup of its representatives in Bangladesh. Machines for interlock, 8-lock, and single jersey are in demand, although sales are still in the low single digits. In particular, Batliboi has long provided services to Nepal from India, according to Wolfgang Müller. We have now formalised the current procedure.
