At the beginning of ITMA 2023, the largest annual international textile and garment technology exhibition, which runs from June 8 to 14 in Milan, Italy, Avient Corporation will introduce a new, sustainable solution for textile dyes and highlight recently attained compliance certifications for colour & additives for synthetic fibres.

This includes an expansion of Avient Specialty Inks’ MagnaColours® ITO dye line. Additionally, Avient’s Taoyuan production facility in Taiwan has been recognised as a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER for spin-dyeing (dope-dyeing) solutions and has received accreditation to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) 4.0.

EVO ITOFIX

The MagnaColours® ITO range of textile dyes and finishes from Avient Specialty Inks now includes ITOFIX EVO reactive dyes, a new environmentally friendly innovation.

ITOFIX EVO reactive dyes, which come in 10 various hues, provide a cutting-edge and environmentally responsible alternative.     for the cellulosic fibres’ colouring. Due to quicker fixing and more precise, first-time results, ITOFIX EVO dyes can produce shorter process cycles and lower dyeing temperatures than standard reactive dyes. Additionally, the range enables efficient washing off at lower temperatures and for a shorter period of time. This can help textile dyers save time, use less energy, and use less water.

ITOFIX EVO dyes are formulated to contribute to the reduction of harmful compounds from the textile supply chain without sacrificing on high levels of colour fastness performance, in addition to facilitating a more environmentally friendly cellulosic dyeing process for textile processors.

Avient will highlight a comprehensive range of specialised ITO range textile dyeing and finishing products at ITMA 2023, including ITOGUARD AQUASHIELD+ and ITOFIX EVO reactive dyes. ITOLUX COT light fastness enhancing agent and non-PFC water repellent treatment for reactive dyes.

Accreditation under GRS 4.0

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) 4.0 has recently been fully complied with by Avient’s Taoyuan production facility in Taiwan. An international, voluntary, full-product standard called the GRS establishes guidelines for chemical limitations, chain of custody, social and environmental practises, and third-party certification of recycled content. The Taoyuan facility manufactures polyester fibre colourants and additives for applications in sportswear and casual wear that are anticipated to contain recycled material.

The pre- or post-consumer recycled polyester, primarily made from recycled PET flakes, is present in the GRS-certified colour and additive solutions at the required amount. They are designed to be utilised in the spin-dyeing, also known as dope-dyeing, process that includes coloured or useful additives. saving water and energy during the yarn extrusion process.

SYSTEM PARTNER for Dope-Dying (Spin-Dying) Fibres: bluesign®

Avient’s Taoyuan plant in Taiwan is among the first suppliers of colourants and additives for spin-dyeing to be recognised as a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER in addition to receiving the GRS accreditation. A well-known label for textiles that attests to increasing sustainable chemistry and excellent product safety in the textile sector is the bluesign® label. Application for certification is open to chemical suppliers, brand owners, and producers of yarn.

The ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substance Lists) Conformance level 3 is immediately granted to the Taoyuan plant for its fibre colour and additive solutions thanks to the bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER accreditation. ZDHC wants to successfully phase out dangerous compounds from the textile industry. supply chains. The site in Taiwan is in the process of including its color and additive solutions in the bluesign® FINDER.
Avient’s team of experts will be on-site at ITMA 2023, June 8-14, exhibiting their dyes, chemicals, finishes, and color & additives for spin-dyeing portfolios throughout the show at Fiera Milano Rho, Hall 5, booth B302, in Milan, Italy.
