According to the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry’s (CITI) analysis of quick estimates, India’s textile exports grew by 12.76% on December 24 compared to the same period last year, while apparel exports increased by roughly 12.89%. This indicates a notable upward trajectory in exports.
According to the Quick Estimates report, textile exports rose 6% and clothing exports gained 8.4% between January and December 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Over this time, T&A exports rose by 7% cumulatively.
“Our increased exports show the sector’s resilience to global uncertainties and are attributed to timely and targeted policy interventions by the Government. Under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Textile Minister, Shri Giriraj Singh, the Indian T&A industry remains optimistic about its continued growth”, cited Shri Rakesh Mehra, Chairman, CITI.
CITI Analysis of Exports and Imports of T&A for December 2024
- During Dec’24, Indian Textile exports were about 12.76% higher as compared to Dec’23 while Apparel exports registered a growth of 12.89% during the same time period.
- Cumulative exports of Textiles and Apparel during Dec’24 have registered a growth of 12.82% over Dec’23.
- During Apr-Dec’24, Indian Textiles exports registered a growth of 4.87% over the previous year while Apparel exports registered a growth of 11.58% during the same time.
- Cumulative exports of Textiles and Apparel during Apr-Dec’24 have registered a growth of 7.63% as compared to Apr-Dec’23.
- The analysis of Quick estimates shows that during Jan-Dec 2024, exports of Textiles increased by 6% while exports of apparels increased by 8.4% compared to Jan-Dec 2023. Cumulative exports of T&A increased by 7% during this period.
