Sustainability is a growing trend in the textile industry, according to a panel discussion at the recent Interwoven Textile Show.

Panellists Chad Bolick, vice president of global brand sales for Unifi Mfg., Walter Bridgham, senior business development manager of Lenzing Group, and Marcy Gang, executive account manager of global supply chain marketing for Cotton Inc., spoke about how innovation is transforming the industry and increasing fabric lifecycles.

The discussion focused on how companies are finding new ways to be more sustainable. Lenzing is looking for ways to reuse waste within the company, while Unifi works with mills to turn old products into new yarn. Cotton Inc. pointed out that cotton is a natural and sustainable fibre, and that all parts of the cotton plant can be used. The panellists also discussed the importance of consumer education and collaboration across the textile industry.
