India Leads Talks on Life Cycle Assessment in Technical Textiles

The two-day historic Life Cycle Assessment Summit (LCAS-2025), hosted by SASMIRA, came to a successful end and sparked important conversations about the use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods in India’s technical textile industry. Shri Sanjay Savkare, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra, opened the summit, which took place at SASMIRA, Worli, Mumbai, on January 9 and 10, 2025. He emphasized the importance of sustainability and innovation in advancing India’s textile and infrastructure sectors.

Introduction of Groundbreaking Technologies: 

  1. Circular Weaving Technology for Seamless Tubular Geotextiles: 

Developed by SASMIRA under NTTM in collaboration with Lohia Corp Ltd., this innovative  technology addresses critical challenges in soil reinforcement and infrastructure  development. 

  1. Reusable Period Panty: 

An innovative product by Eve Essential, a SASMIRA-supported start-up, offering  sustainable solutions for menstrual hygiene.
