Durak Tekstil has introduced Durak Poly-Strong PC-IR, a highly advanced sewing thread designed to eliminate weaknesses in stitching areas of camouflage materials by offering infrared (IR) invisibility, particularly in the 700–1200 nm wavelength range. This innovation significantly improves stealth in military and security applications, as well as for outdoor gear and technical apparel.
Durak Tekstil, a prominent Turkish manufacturer known for its technical threads—such as cut-resistant, conductive, and insect-repellent threads—has now expanded its portfolio with a solution that addresses a critical vulnerability in camouflage: visible stitching under IR detection. Durak Poly-Strong PC-IR ensures full concealment by matching the thread’s IR reflectance to that of the fabric, making stitching areas virtually undetectable by IR sensors.
Yiğit Durak, Vice President of the Board at Durak Tekstil, explained that traditional camouflage techniques no longer suffice due to advancements in surveillance technologies. The new thread bridges this gap, offering complete IR invisibility by eliminating detection hotspots at stitching areas. The product has been laboratory-verified and approved by international independent institutions.
The development of Poly-Strong PC-IR was initiated in response to a request from the Polish army, triggering a focused R&D process that quickly yielded a product that meets rigorous military-grade standards. The thread’s dark military green tone, along with various thickness options, ensures adaptability for military garments, tents, bags, and even outdoor sportswear.
With high durability and strong resistance to wear, chemical exposure, and environmental factors (including fungi and mold), the IR thread meets international fastness standards for washing, light, friction, and perspiration. Its robust composition resists acids, alkalis, and bleaching agents, and it performs exceptionally in terms of melting, softening, and shrinkage.
Durak emphasizes that the Poly-Strong PC-IR thread will not only strengthen their presence in the military textile sector—particularly in Turkey—but will also unlock potential in fields like nature sports, tactical gear, and photography, where stealth is essential.
