The footwear, accessories, and apparel company Steve Madden has teamed up with recycling platform Trashie to launch a new initiative that encourages users to recycle their used clothes and shoes.

On Steve Madden’s website, customers can now buy a “Take Back Bag” for $20. With a pre-paid shipping label, they may stuff the bag full of their unwanted clothing and shoes and mail it to Trashie’s recycling facility. In exchange, they will receive a $25 discount from Steve Madden on their next online purchase.

Every item is sorted into one of 253 categories by Trashie’s recycling process, which guarantees that every item is either recycled into new materials, downcycled, or repurposed. Up to 95% of the things gathered, according to the company, are kept out of landfills.

“As we move forward into 2024, an important part of our sustainability efforts is creating a circular, eco-friendly approach across our supply chain,” stated Gregg Meyer, Chief Sustainability Officer at Steve Madden. With the help of Trashie’s cutting-edge platform, we can provide our consumers with an easy option to recycle their used clothing and shoes in an environmentally friendly manner.

The CEO and creator of Trashie, Kristy Caylor, emphasized her enthusiasm for the partnership with Steve Madden by saying, “We’re pleased to work with Steve Madden to provide their customers an easy recycling option.”
