Spain will manufacture its own filter masks

Nonwovens Ibérica, specialized in textile sector, will manufacture filter masks for Spain. German machinery will be installed for the first production of meltblown nonwovens. The only raw material that exists to manufacture guaranteed filtering layer of masks.

The first national high-performance meltblown Reifenhäuser Reicofil line, with production capacity for the manufacture of 1.5 billion face masks per year. It has a bacterial filtration efficiency (EFB) of up to 99%.

Installation will take place in the last quarter of the year. Production will start when there is no quality fluctuations for Personal Protection Equipment and sanitary equipment.

With this investment, Spain will have the entire supply chain for the manufacture of masks made in the country as it has to respond to the essential needs left by the pandemic and this line will self-supply.

The nonwovens company, has over 50 years’ of history, it will be located in town of Muro de Alcoy, a region with a great textile tradition. They plan to increase its staff by 30% in the near future. They have national and international company clients, to whom they supply textile articles for household and industrial cleaning, with absorbent wipes and mops being the most manufactured product. It will have a production capacity of around 5,500 tonnes per year.
