The German Packaging Award went to a monomaterial polyethylene alternative to multilayer cartons.
In the sustainability category, Zotefoam’s ReZorce packaging solution—a monomaterial HDPE substitute for multilayer beverage cartons—was awarded the German Packaging Award.

“The packaging is made of monomaterial HDPE,” the motivation states. During the extrusion process, a barrier layer is formed by a unique technology, allowing for the utilization of 30% to 70% mechanically recycled material.

It has been demonstrated that ReZorce, as opposed to traditional composite beverage cartons, can minimize environmental consequences, including water and energy use, by around 50%. Because of this, the redesigned packaging is deserving of a sustainability award. ReZorce has also been chosen to participate in the Reuters Sustainability Awards 2024, where the winners will be revealed in London in October, under the Product Innovation Award category.

ReZorce Circular Packaging was created in partnership with Biffa Polymers and is composed of just one polymer—expanded polyethylene—so it may be disposed of in the separate plastic collection.
