Bangladesh recorded yet another achievement after supply chain compliance solutions provider QIMA has ranked the country (Bangladesh) second on a list comparing the ethical auditing practices of major manufacturing nations.

Titled ‘2020 in Review: Global Trade Covid Disruption Reveals Changes in Consumption Habits and Rampant Ethical Risks, as China Sourcing Beats the Odds’, the report compiled by QIMA has placed Vietnam in the third position even as Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, China, India and Brazil followed suit while China came in a distant seventh, well behind Turkey as well as Pakistan, in the list compiled by the supply chain compliance solutions provider.

As per reports, ethical audit data, which were collected from factories that have reopened as well as in the course of remote audits, reportedly, show that compared to the first half of 2020, the percentage of factories ranked ‘red’ for critical non-compliances, increased by more than 100 per cent, even as it maintained that some of the most pressing issues are in the area of wage compliance and working hours.

In case of China, 14 per cent of factories audited were, reportedly, given a failing grade consequent to the critical violations in the area of wage and working hours even as examples of violations include workers being pushed to work excessive hours to meet tight schedules for high-demand goods, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as sanitation duties being imposed as unpaid overtime.
