In an unexpected turn of events at the Baramati Hi-Tech Textile Park, Pratibha Pawar, wife of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, and her granddaughter Revati Sule were reportedly denied entry for nearly half an hour. This incident occurred just days before the Maharashtra assembly elections, heightening the political tension in the region.

Upon their arrival at the textile park, which was established during Sharad Pawar’s tenure as Union Agriculture Minister, security personnel informed them that the gates were closed on the orders of the park’s management. A video of the incident has since gone viral, showing the family members attempting to gain access.

Supriya Sule, Baramati MP and daughter of Sharad Pawar, expressed her discontent regarding the situation, emphasising that her mother and daughter were made to wait despite their connection to the establishment. She pointed out the irony of being denied access to a facility initiated by her father and suggested that political manoeuvring was involved, particularly referencing Ajit Pawar, her uncle and current Deputy Chief Minister.

After being granted entry, Pratibha Pawar engaged with local workers and encouraged voters to support the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition in the upcoming elections.

Anil Wagh, chief manager of the textile park, later stated that he was unaware of Pratibha Pawar’s visit and had instructed security to prevent any political gatherings due to a lack of permission. Upon learning who had arrived, he directed that they be allowed inside.

This incident not only highlights the familial tensions within Maharashtra’s political landscape but also reflects broader electoral strategies as parties prepare for crucial polling days ahead.
