The textile industry is constantly evolving, and two companies, Parkdale Mills and Trützschler, have been at the forefront of this evolution for over half a century. Their enduring partnership, built on a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, has recently reached a new milestone with Parkdale’s adoption of Trützschler’s innovative SUPERTIP card clothing wires.

Parkdale, a global leader in spun yarns and the largest consumer of cotton in the US boasts a history spanning over 108 years. From its humble beginnings producing 425 tons of thread yarn annually, the company has grown exponentially, now producing over 8,000 tons per week across 21 manufacturing facilities in the Americas. This extensive operation supplies diverse industries worldwide with spun yarns comprising various fibre blends, including cotton, polyester, rayon, nylon, and acrylic.

Trützschler, a key player in textile machinery, entered the US market in 1969 and quickly established a close working relationship with Parkdale. This collaboration has navigated numerous industry transformations, consistently focusing on cutting-edge technologies and continuous process improvement. The latest chapter in this long-standing partnership involves Parkdale’s order of 34 carding machines equipped with SUPERTIP wires for the licker-in, cylinder, and doffer rollers.

The SUPERTIP wires represent Trützschler’s latest advancement in card clothing technology. Parkdale’s decision to integrate these wires stems from their significant contributions to quality and precision, particularly their exceptional durability. These wires offer up to 30% longer service life compared to conventional solutions, resulting in a 25% reduction in maintenance needs. This translates to minimized downtime, smoother operations, and lower costs for Parkdale.

The versatility of the SUPERTIP range is another key advantage. With over 300 available versions, Trützschler can tailor the wires to Parkdale’s diverse applications and process parameters, eliminating the need for grinding after installation and further extending maintenance intervals.

Charles Heilig, President and CEO of Parkdale Textile Division, stated that Parkdale has trusted the Trützschler Card Clothing (TCC) team to be a full-service provider for their card clothing needs. He noted that they have exceeded Parkdale’s expectations for quality and performance throughout their entire manufacturing network. Heilig added that TCC continually works with Parkdale’s team members, seeking innovative strategies to delight their customers.

This commitment to service is a cornerstone of the partnership. Parkdale benefits from rapid access to parts, including stationary and revolving flats and licker-ins, while Trützschler’s technical specialists provide on-site maintenance and support.

Greg Duncan, Vice President Spinning Machine Sales American Trützschler (ATR), emphasizes the importance of the relationship: “We’re incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership…Our companies have collaborated for more than five decades…I know how much Parkdale values the full maintenance service that our mechanics, engineers and technologists provide – as well as our pioneering solutions for card clothing.”

The SUPERTIP wires embody durability, versatility, and precision, achieved through a unique manufacturing process built on Trützschler’s extensive expertise. This latest development underscores the enduring strength of the Parkdale-Trützschler partnership, a collaboration that continues to drive innovation and shape the future of the textile industry.
