CARBIOS, in collaboration with Nouvelles Fibres Textiles, will provide polyester fabrics for the construction of the first PET biorecycling facility in France. Over a five-year period beginning in 2026, the plant will recycle 5,000 metric tons of polyester textiles annually. Through this collaboration, recycling textiles and responsibly handling end-of-life materials will improve significantly.
Using cutting-edge technologies from partners including Andritz Laroche, Pellenc ST, Synergie TLC, and the Tissages de Charlieu company, the location will function as a research center for textile recycling.
The CEO of CARBIOS, Emmanuel Ladent, emphasized the organization’s status as a leader in biotech and a major force in the textile sector. He underlined how crucial it is to implement extensive polyester recycling programs in order to improve infrastructures for preparation and collection. This relationship integrates several value chain components, from collecting to recycling, reflecting the development and innovation of the French sector.
Co-directors of Nouvelles Fibres Textiles, Eric Bol and Etienne Wiroth, stressed the importance of the circular economy in tackling the negative effects of excessive textile consumption on the environment, the economy, and society. Through their collaboration, they hope to create a circular value chain that will transform the textile industry into a sustainable model that benefits people and the environment alike.
