Madhya Pradesh Government planning to set textile circuit

The Madhya Pradesh government will set up a textile tourism circuit in the state. Chanderi, Maheshwar, Srangpur and Bagh have been selected in the first phase for the purpose.

The state has a wide variety of handicrafts to offer the discerning traveler. The places here are famous for fabrics and print and also help to get tourist for their palaces, temples and archaeological sites.

The government is also planning to set up textile parks in these places where tourists can buy directly from weavers. It would reduce the price of products to around 40% as there is no middle men involved in the process. The buyers would also be offered options to customize their dress material designs.

It is the artistic style of Madhya Pradesh that introduces everyone to the exclusivity of the state. From carpet weaving to using different kinds of embroidery styles, textile printing, weaving of the silk and many other traditions. Madhya Pradesh have carved a special identity for itself. The weavers, printers and designers in the state keep themselves updated with the ongoing trends for catching up the pace.

The initiatives are being undertaken by the MP Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation. Officials said that Chanderi and Maheshwar are fast emerging as tourist destination in the country.
