Capacity to service 600,000 workwear pieces per month
11th location in India that services 150 customers
Faridabad, 6 November 2023: Lindström India, the 100% subsidiary of Finland headquartered Lindström Oy, a global textile rental company providing workwear and cleanroom workwear services is set to mark a significant milestone with the launch of its new Unit in Haryana. The expansion is a testament to Lindström’s commitment to serving the ever-growing demand for workwear and cleanroom services in India.
This unit in Faridabad is Lindström’s 2nd in North India and 13th overall in the country. Spread over 60,000 sq. Ft, the new plant further solidifies its presence as a leading provider of textile rental services in India. The other unit of Lindstrom in Haryana is in Panchkula.
Lindström Group’s President & CEO, Mr. Juha Laurio highlighted the company’s commitment to the Indian market, stating, “India holds a special place in the Lindström Group’s global operations. India has over 2,000 customers with approximately 3 million workwear pieces. Globally, we serve 2 million customers across all service lines. We’re proud to have a large customer base. We’ve experienced double-digit growth in India every year since we started. Even during the times of the pandemic, we continued to grow and stayed open and provided customers with services. At the end of this fiscal year, we’re expanding our services portfolio. It’s about time now to provide these services to India as well. We’re recycling 100% of textile waste in India, with 75% of our water being recycled. We’re adhering to sustainable goals and environmental sustainability. We’re proud to continue investing and servicing our customers in India.”
Mr. Jayant Roy, Managing Director of Lindström India, expressed his enthusiasm for this expansion, saying, “We are thrilled to continue our journey of innovation and service excellence in North India. This plant will not just service Delhi/NCR region but also West Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Kanpur), Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior), and North Rajasthan (Alwar & Jaipur). Many cities of India face water shortages. The textile industry consumes about 5% of water, and garments and clothes washed at home consume about 20-25% of groundwater. That’s huge. We try to set up systems as to how we can recycle the maximum amount of textiles, use less water, and treat wastewater. Keeping in mind the impact on society and future generations, we are proud to be a part of the circular economy and recycling a large amount of water.”
“This launch further strengthens our position in the industry, and with our increased capacity, we are well-equipped to meet the growing needs of our valued clients. The new and expanded unit with enhanced capacity and service capability in Delhi NCR is in response to the surging demand for Lindström’s services in North India, spanning a wide range of industries, including electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and Automobiles. The new facility is strategically positioned to provide customised sustainable and digitally enabled workwear solutions to clients in the region.” said Mr. Anupam Chakrabarty–Sr. Vice President (Asia and Group Marketing, Sales, and Customer Engagement), Lindström.
Ms. Sanna Orava, Counsellor, Embassy of Finland, who was also present during the inauguration, congratulated Lindström on its growth and practices in India.
“This event is a collaboration that defines Indo-Finnish relations. The Embassy of Finland shares a strong relationship with India, based on shared values of democracies and international order. With India’s growth contributing to almost 60% of economic growth, we look forward to more bilateral growth. Our robust investment in technology and trade, supported by Indian government, will lead to job creation. This facility signifies much to the strength of Indo-Finnish ties, a symbol of prosperity and deepening economic ties between our countries.”
