Universal Fiber Systems℠, LLC (UFS), a prominent global producer of high-quality synthetic fibers and advanced fiber technologies, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Craig as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 5, 2025.
Craig brings with him over fifteen years of executive leadership in the polymers sector, with a strong track record in accelerating growth, driving innovation, and enhancing operational performance.
Marc Ammen, the outgoing CEO and Executive Board Chair, expressed confidence in Craig’s leadership: “We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan as CEO. His extensive knowledge of fiber technologies and global business strategy—honed through influential roles across our supply chain—makes him ideally suited to lead UFS into the future.”
Craig succeeds Ammen, who is retiring after more than fifteen years as CEO and a 25-year tenure at UFS. During Ammen’s leadership, the company saw remarkable growth, global expansion of its manufacturing footprint, and strategic acquisitions including Sapona Yarns and Fiber Innovation Technologies. Ammen will remain actively involved as Executive Chair of the Board.
Prior to joining UFS, Craig served as Vice President of Polymers and Fibers at Ascend Performance Materials, where he played a key role in driving profitability through operational streamlining, customer-centric innovation, and sustainability initiatives. He previously led the transformation of a specialty chemicals division and held senior positions in supply chain and finance at Ascend. His earlier career includes leadership roles at Bigler LP and Biogen Idec.
Craig steps into the CEO role during a pivotal growth phase for UFS, which now operates across 27 end markets through strategic global investments and acquisitions.
In his statement, Craig said, “It’s an honor to join Universal Fiber Systems and lead this remarkable team. UFS has a legacy of innovation and customer dedication. I look forward to building upon that strong foundation to deliver impactful solutions. This is also a meaningful personal milestone, and I’m thankful for the support of my wife Elizabeth and our four children as we embrace this new journey together.
