Hamburg, 09/05/ 2024. The Koskilna Compact coalition has welcomed the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) as a new member. This multinational alliance of corporations, non-governmental organizations, and governmental entities seeks to assist farmers in creating resilient livelihoods and to advance the social and economic advancement of Chad’s cotton-growing regions. The project is expected to take five years to complete.

Tina Stridde, managing director of the Aid by Trade Foundation, adds, “We are thrilled to support Koskilna Compact with our many years of experience in the field of sustainable cotton production.” “Koskilna Compact and its member organizations play a significant and valuable role in reinforcing the efforts of our Cotton made in Africa initiative, which has been working in Chad since 2020,” she continues, elaborating on the reciprocal nature of the support.

The goal of the Koskilna Compact is to significantly support Chad’s sustainable socioeconomic growth through coordinated efforts and concerted cooperation. This involves working to maintain the environment, safeguard the soil, advance sustainable farming practices, and support the social and economic integration of Chadian cotton farmers.

The African Cotton Foundation (ACF), the National Union of the Cotton Producers of Chad (UNPCT), Cotontchad Société Nouvelle (CTSN), STICHTING IDH (IDH), the Embassy Office of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chad, Solidaridad West Africa, the Aid by Trade Foundation, and the Center for Research, Innovation and Technological Production (CRIPT) are all included in the Koskilna Compact.
