ZDHC MRSL V2.0 accepted Control Union ‘Chemical Certification’ for All Levels

We at Control Union have developed a unique independent certification system focussing on customers from chemical industry who are integral part of the textile value chain. After thorough verification we have been awarded Acceptance by ZDHC.

This means that we are ZDHC Accepted Conformance Indicators or to put in simple words chemical inputs applied on textiles, certified by us for this program will indicate conformance to ZDHC at different levels (1-2-3). Higher the conformance level, the more confidence there is that the chemical formulation will consistently meet and conform to the ZDHC MRSL.

Below is the detailed approach given for chemical formulator / supplier to achieve this ZDHC MRSL V2.0 accepted certification
1. Scope
It describes a standard operating procedure on how Conformance for ZDHC MRSL is           issued by Certifiers of Control Union.

3. Chemical Input
General term for all substances & preparations directly applied as textile auxiliary agents,
dyes or pigments.

4. Prohibited & Restricted Inputs
Priority Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC MRSL V2.0) which do not meet the requirements
related to hazards & toxicity are prohibited & restricted, due to their specific relevance in
the textile sector and/or the public attention to these substances.
Preparations are prohibited if one or more of the prohibited substances are intentionally
added/present as a functional component at any level. Any unavoidable contaminations and impurities of such substances must not exceed the limits given in ZDHC MRSL V2.0. In case any chemical (and/or group) is not explicitly mentioned in the lists, the respective GHS (Global Harmonised System) criterion is to be taken as decisive requirement.
Also, chemical inputs which knowingly release any of the prohibited & restricted substances
at normal application or usage conditions are prohibited. Chemical Inputs are also not permitted if there is validation that their designated use leads to any exceeding residue limits in textiles of the parameters listed in ZDHC MRSL V2.0.

5. Hazard Classification
Chemical Inputs which are classified with specific hazard statements (risk phrases) related to health & environmental hazards are prohibited.Preparations are prohibited if any of the contained substances, which are classified with listed health hazard statement, are intentionally added/present as a functional component at any level. Further a preparation is prohibited if any of the contained substances, which are classified with any listed health hazard statement, is present above the concentration limit, above which the substance needs to be declared in the MSDS (prepared according to one of the equivalent norms / directives as listed in ZDHC MRSL conformance). In a given case of doubt about the classifications and applicable concentration limits, the GHS provisions are decisive.
Preparations which knowingly release such substances at normal application or usage
conditions are prohibited.
Preparations are also prohibited if there is validation that their designated use leads to any
exceeding residue limits in textiles of the parameters listed in ZDHC MRSL V2.0.
