TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is expanding its BUCHANAN PCB Connector portfolio with maintenance-free push-in clamp termination. TE’s products come with low insertion and release forces for ferruled wires and unferruled solid wires without the need for special tools. The tool-less design reduces installation times up to 80% compared with traditional screw clamp termination.

The new range of connectors consists of two-piece plug connectors with mating straight and right-angle shrouded headers. “The engineers at TE have designed these products for use in motion and control units in harsh and vibration-exposed factory and process automation industry to suit high density, signal, and power applications,” says Product Manager Christian Netsch.

TE’s portfolio expansion starts with 5.00mm metrical pitch design and various numbers of positions (between two and 16), enabling design flexibility in a wide range of applications. Customer-specific versions are available on request to allow solutions to meet individual requirements. “We expect the new BUCHANAN PCB connectors to be used in servo/inverter drives, various types of controls, power supply units and HVAC systems, allowing installation efficiency without safety reduction,” says Christian Netsch.

Housings are compliant with UL regulations and VDE regulations (pending approval) and come in a polyamide 66 with a UL94 flammability rating of V-0. Connectors accept wires in sizes from AWG 26 to 12 (0.14-2.5mm2). More information is available here.
