Cambodia exported $357.8 million in clothing, textiles, shoes, and travel items in the first six months of 2021, a 1.4 percent increase over the same period previous year.
According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, garment exports were manufactured in special economic zones (SEZs).
In the first three months of, Cambodia exported $232 million in clothing, shoes, and travel items. Garment exports accounted for the majority of total exports at $232 million, a 3.3 percent decrease from the same period last year. With total sales of $77 million and $74 million, respectively, the EU and Japan markets were the largest markets for the Kingdom’s clothing items.
Cambodia’s commerce with the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and ASEAN countries has increased by more than a year. The United States was the largest market, importing $15.7 million of the total amount of travel products exported. Covid severely harmed Cambodia’s textile industry, forcing it to move from making clothing to producing medical supplies for the health sector.
During the second Coronavirus epidemic in February, the clothing industry’s supply chain was severely disrupted. If garment product deliveries are delayed, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) have asked purchasers and other stakeholders to be patient.
