Following recent inspection of Sateri Jiangsu and Sateri China mills, all five Sateri viscose mills in China are now completely compliant with the emission restrictions set out in the European Union EU-BAT BREF (best available techniques reference document) on polymers.
The metrics evaluated were verified by independent consultancy Sustainable Textile Solutions (STS), a part of BluWin in the UK. They included resource utility efficiency, wastewater discharge, and air pollutants.
Sateri Jiangsu and Sateri China mills have met EU-BAT’s recommended emission levels for viscose fibre production, two years ahead of schedule.
“China’s regenerated cellulose fibre industry has been progressing steadily in recent years,” said Chen Xinwei, chairman of the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association.
Two of Sateri’s viscose mills in China have achieved EU-BAT emissions verifications, two years ahead of schedule. The company had aimed for both mills to meet the recommended emission levels by 2023. “We will continue to pursue manufacturing excellence,” says company president Allen Zhang.
STS Group, the owner of Sateri mills in China’s Jiangsu and Fujian provinces, has achieved EU-BAT compliance for its mill in Jiangsu, which was acquired only two years ago.
