India being a huge market for a unique sense of fashion, the music composer duo Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant popularly known as Salim Sulaiman has forayed into fashion merchandising by launching their label.
The interesting part of the venture is that it is inspired by their iconic songs, hobbies and personal interests. The duo has created a significant name for them in the Indian music forum by giving the audience much a much loved album. The objective of the collection is to recapture the nostalgia of their fondly remembered creations in music. The first batch of collections is focused on their hits such as ‘Kurbaan Hua’, ‘Shukranallah’, ‘Chak De India’ and ‘Yeh Hausla Kaise Jhuke’. To launch their label the duo has collaborated with Styched which is a production-on-demand fast fashion company. The first collection will consist of a line of t-shirts based on the above songs.
The musicians, on asked about the label reported said that they are super excited. Sulaiman added that their apparel line with Styched is an expression of themselves and want their fans to be comfortable in them as much as possible in these exciting times. Further Salim added that their style has never been about big brands and labels and therefore it is of utmost importance that their fans and followers relate to their fashion line and that they themselves feel proud to wear to wear it besides keeping the brands on sale. He also mentioned that he has been excited to wear each and every piece as he steps out. On the collaboration with the duo, Styched COO Durga Dash said that it’s a significant partnership. They also added that their aim is to translate the celebrity’s persona into relatable apparel and establish their connect with fans and is confident that Salim-Sulaiman would resonate with the audience.
The collection would be available for shipping around the world with a focus on fans in USA, Canada and the UK. It is yet to see if the much awaited collection would charm the people as their founders did.
