Exporters of powerloom sector represented by PDEXCIL attended the virtual interactive meet with Shri Narendra Modi Ji from various locations viz; Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Erode, Salem, Coimbatore, Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur, Solapur. Mr. M.A. Ramasamy, Chairman, PDEXCIL is thankful to Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for taking this great initiative and recognizing small sectors to achieve the target of US $ 400 Billion. Chairman, PDEXCIL said ‘this will encourage exporters to work tirelessly to achieve the target even more than US $ 400 USD billion’.
Shri Piyush Goyal ji, Hon’ble Minster of Commerce and Industry, addressed the gathering and initiated the meet with his encouraging words. Ambassadors from various countries interacted with PM such as Bangladesh, UK, China, UAE, USA etc. informing him about the scenario of trade between the respective countries and major issues faced by them. PM later addressed the gathering and appreciated the enthusiasm, optimism and commitment of the industry towards achieving the target of US $ 400 billion. He said that with the start of railways to Bangladesh, trade is gaining momentum. He said that recovery at export front is happening at a good rate. He informed that Government has taken a big decision wherein the exporters will get an insurance cover boost of about 88,000 corers. He said that the ambitious target of export of US $ 400 bn can be achieved with a holistic and detailed action plan.
India has already marked a record of 33% of its target export of US $ 400 Billion. This move is a testimony that the Prime Minister has initiated for the exports of Indian products. Powerloom being one of the very important sector of textile industry seek this opportunity to increase its export in double folds. Major fabric production in India is by powerloom sector. It is employing about 6.3 million workers. Also majority of fabrics exported from India is sourced by powerloom sector which is about 65%.
